LOUISIANA’S SENATE RACE TIGHTENS HEADING INTO ELECTION DAY
November 2026 · Elections
For months, Louisiana’s U.S. Senate race was considered a sure win for Republicans. On the eve of Election Day, analysts and advisers from both parties say the outcome is less certain. They point to strong Black turnout in early voting, better-than-expected fundraising for Democrat Jamie Davis, and a national mood that favors Democrats. Political experts from both parties still consider Republican Julia Letlow the favorite. If she wins, she would be the first Republican woman Louisiana has elected to the U.S. Senate and only the second woman from either party.
