Join 10000 Women Louisiana and Indivisible Baton Rouge to speak out and share your story. Learn how your members of Congress have voted—and let them hear directly from you. You will have two minutes to speak or submit a written statement. We’ll make sure they get it.
Only Congressman Cleo Fields held town halls in Baton Rouge. Since Kennedy, Cassidy and Letlow didn’t hold a town hall, we are hosting one for you!
This is a non-partisan, non-denominational event. Your voice matters. Show up and be heard. This is the fourth town hall in the Voices of Voters series that began in Ruston, Monroe and Shreveport.

About this event
A military parade on the leader’s birthday, is not America. Citizens gathering peacefully, is.
Trump’s military parade could cost as much as $45 million. In our America, we organize and gather for free because we love our country.
Join us on June 14, nationwide “No Kings” Day of Action, for a peaceful, public demonstration of what we value as Americans: our country and all who call it home, and the rights and freedoms enshrined in the Constitution.
Not a wanna-be dictator who uses Flag Day and the US Army’s 250th birthday as justification to throw himself a military parade at our expense.
A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

Protect Young Peoples’ Access to Healthcare
Senate Committee on Health and Welfare June 8, 2025 | 2:00 p.m. John J. Hainkel, Jr. Room
HB 400 by Representatives Chenevert and Horton would require parental consent before most minors (under 18) could receive non-emergency medical care.
Although encouraging parental involvement in minors’ health care can have positive impacts, strictly mandating parental involvement deters and delays many young people from seeking the healthcare services they need.
While parental consent laws claim to be rooted in protecting minors, the real impact is creating impossible hoops for young people to jump through. Those with parents who are absent or unavailable, as well as those with parents who refuse to provide consent due to shame, stigma, miseducation, religious beliefs, or cultural differences will be entirely unable to access the confidential care they need.
The American Academy of Pediatrics, Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and American Academy of Family Physicians strongly recommend the protection of adolescent confidentiality. However, this bill would require that providers do the opposite, to the detriment of young people across the state.
It is vitally important that young people have access to confidential services and are able to trust their health care providers so they can make informed decisions about their bodies and their lives.
Send a letter to your Representative to urge their opposition to HB 400

Take Action on HB575!
It will be heard on the Senate floor Sunday or Monday!!
Letter to Senators*:
I am writing as a concerned constituent to respectfully urge you to oppose HB 575, by Representative Ventrella. The bill creates broad liability for anyone trying to help someone get an abortion - even when that is a legal abortion in another state. This goes too far. The bill further disregards basic notions of fairness and weaponizes our tort laws by allowing the recovery of extensive money damages without even showing that the defendant caused the person bringing the action any damages. In addition, the provision that “exempts” advocates for sexual assault survivors and mental health professionals is narrow and conditional. It restricts them from being able to provide pregnant women with information about their options, even legal out-of-state abortions. Organizations offering trauma-informed options counseling to survivors shouldn’t have to fear liability for even mentioning abortion. This undermines their ethical obligations to support sexual assault survivors. While there may be amendments that improve the bill – HB 575 will still weaponize the legal system against people just supporting a pregnant woman in their decision-making. I urge you to reject this harmful and extreme proposal. Please stand for compassion, privacy, and reasonable civil liability laws by voting YES on the amendments but NO on this bill.
Simplified Message:
HB 575 weaponizes the legal system and creates broad liability for anyone trying to help someone get an abortion - even if that’s a legal abortion in another state. This goes too far.
Please stand for compassion, privacy, and reasonable civil liability laws by voting YES on the amendments but NO on this bill.

HB690 by Rep. Owen will be heard on the Senate Floor this Sunday, June 8. This bill directs the State Surgeon General to promulgate rules for the administration of emergency use authorized vaccines and other medical products.
Our concern with this bill has been that these rules, created by a single physician, could reflect personal biases and not be evidence-based. When the bill was heard in the Senate Health and Welfare committee earlier this week, a reasonable compromise was proposed: healthcare provider groups from around the state should be included in the creation of these rules.
The amendment was not added in committee and is expected to be added before the bill gets to the Senate Floor. We have updated our call-to-action to ask Senators to support the addition of this amendment. Please share it widely so Senators will get this message over the weekend!
